How to tell a story-part 1

Recently, we have begun to think more carefully about how we tell stories. We have also begun to refine our use of editing videos and movies using iMovie. And so we present the first attempt to create our very own 'Jackanory' or 'Storyteller' episode.

Maps - How are they different?

Today we looked at lots of different types of maps. First we sorted them according to our own criteria. Next we identified which maps were 'you are here' maps, which were 'street maps' and which were  'ordnance survey' maps. Finally we looked at some rather unusual maps including some that had different smells on them.

Lego Spaceship Story Storm!

Over the Christmas holidays we had a Lego Spaceship competition. As an added bonus the 3G space engineers had to write a story about their ships. Here are our entries:

Leon's entry

 

Below is my description of the Half Blade and the pilot Rocko.

 

Half Blade shoots bulging diamond lasers and poison lasers.

 

Half Blade has powerful armour.

 

Powerful as bedrock.

 

Half Blade likes to kill bad space pirates.

 

Rocko rides on Half Blade.

Rocko is a pilot .

Rocko is strong.

 

Rocko attacks the planet Mars,Uranus,and Pluto,every day.

 

Rocko goes everywhere with a full tank of gas.

 

When Half Blade attacks ships it gives them guns.

In 2115, there is a spaceship whose name was Alec. He was a brave and responsible spaceship. One day, Alec notices that something is wrong. That is to say, there are people in Jupiter. They seem to be attacking against the earth! 

Alec started to run back to report his boss but his boss is laughing at Alec’s bad news. So, Alec asks his friend to fight against the enemy to protect the earth. 

But Alec is starting to be a bit frightened. “Is it all right only my friend and me?” “I wonder my mother would feel sad when I get injured.” “Will the boss get angry about my fight?” “But, there's no time to lose!!”

Alec and friends start to attack the people in Jupiter. Soon, they are very shocked by his attack and run away to their planet. After that, Alec finds out their lost property that they are a terrible bad guys and Alec gets praised a lot by not only his boss but also the president of his military.

HOW THE PLANET VENUS EXPLODED 

 

Once upon a time there was a powerful space ship called Shield Crasher. Now this ship had won loads of battles and today it is going to fight against the Army of Venus.when he had got in front  of Venus bombs started to shoot out of the planet but shield  crasher  dodged  them easily. After it could "t see any bombs it started  to fire it's laser bombs to kill other men on the planet. When  it could only see nine men on the planet it stopped firing its laser bombs and landed on the planet, but as it approached the nine men started to surround it and fire even more bombs at it. So it flew up in the air again and started its laser bombs again. When the army of Venus thought it was too much, they shouted "Alpha!". At that very moment a rumbling sound echoed around Venus then a huge alien gorilla rose up from the crater. Shield Crasher knew something. It had to face the Alpha before it exploded the planet. Then he had an idea - he transformed into a pizza and the pizza shot into the Alpha's face. The alpha hated pizza and crashed onto Venus, making the planet explode.

Ones upon a time there was a village and a battle ship that have no gas.  Lots of people  came to pull the massive shiny battle ship. The  battle ship had a crystal window and a shiny green walls on the sides. Some more people came to help. They  pulled the massive battle ship all the way to the gas station. Then they put gas into the battle ship. Then they live happily together, especially because of the big, shiny crystal  battle ship.

Fruity Fractions Picnic

Hello reader,

Today we spent some time investigating two mathematical conundrums involving fractions and picnics.
